SSOA admits it requested Kiir to take away Hussein as vice-president – Sudans Post
JUBA – The South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA), a coalition of opposition events led by Josephine Lagu, has formally admitted that they’ve requested President Salva Kiir Mayardit to dismiss Vice President Hussein Abdelbaggi Akol, who was appointed to the place because the alliance’s consultant.

In an announcement signed by leaders of seven of the eight member events – with Gabriel Changson of the FDP notably absent – SSOA declared it had withdrawn confidence in Abdelbaggi and formally communicated its resolution to President Kiir.
“SSOA Leadership Council would like to inform the public that it has withdrawn its confidence in H.E. Hussein Abdel Bagi Akol as Vice President representing SSOA in the Presidency. It has communicated this decision to the appointing authority last month. Therefore, H.E. Hussein doesn’t speak for SSOA anymore,” learn the assertion, seen by Sudans Post.
The assertion additionally emphasised related provisions of the 2018 Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict within the Republic of South Sudan (R-ARCSS) regarding the allocation and alternative of vice-presidential positions.
