The Kenya Academy of Sports (KAS) has kicked off its National Talent Development Camp at Hospital Hill High School in Nairobi, bringing collectively some 430 college students of essentially the most promising younger athletes from throughout the nation for an intense showdown that would launch their sports activities careers onto the worldwide stage.

Five key disciplines (soccer, rugby, volleyball, hockey and basketball) are being contested for by each girls and boys.

Strong squad

 The boys’ soccer workforce and the boys’ and ladies’ volleyball groups are coaching at Hospital Hill High School, whereas the Under-19 and Under-17 ladies’ soccer groups are holding their periods at Lavington Girls Secondary School underneath the steerage of coaches Fred Serenge and Betty Anyango.

“I want to appreciate KAS for organising these talent camps. The students we have received from the regional camps are so talented. We are going to train them well and name a strong squad,” remarked Stephen Ochola, the boys’ soccer workforce head coach. 

Ochola is working alongside Musa Otieno, Bernard Onyango and Frankline Miheso in making ready the boys’ soccer workforce. 

Meanwhile, volleyball head coach Sammy Kirongo believes that the KAS expertise camps may present a long-term resolution to the scarcity of expertise growth facilities for each nationwide males’s and ladies’s volleyball groups and Kenyan Premier League volleyball golf equipment. 

“These students are very skilled. They only need a bit of training in specific areas, and we’ll have strong players ready to represent the national teams and league clubs,” said Kirongo. 

The KAS elite coaches throughout the 5 disciplines have till Friday to finalize their alternatives for the KAS nationwide groups, that are set to endure high-level coaching in Spain subsequent yr.
