Samia Suluhu Stadium reaches 16 per cent completion
ARUSHA: THE development of the Samia Suluhu Stadium, set to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), has reached 16 per cent completion.
Government Chief Spokesperson and Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Information, Culture, Sports and Arts, Gerson Msigwa, confirmed the progress after inspecting the challenge final Sunday.
Msigwa recommended the progress of the challenge regardless of the heavy rainfall season in Arusha. “I am pleased to see the project advancing smoothly despite the rains. The contractor has implemented effective measures to manage the weather challenges,” he stated.
He expressed confidence that the challenge will keep on observe, highlighting that the contractor has applied efficient drainage techniques to divert rainwater from the location. “The contractor has assured us that the on-going rains will not cause any delay,” Msigwa added.
The multi-billion-dollar challenge, which prices a complete of 286bn/-, is scheduled for completion in April 2026. Located in Olmoti Ward in Arusha, the stadium may have a seating capability of 30,000 soccer followers upon completion.

Msigwa famous that following directives from President Samia Suluhu Hassan, funds for the challenge are being disbursed on time, making certain the graceful execution of the development.
