Kiir returns from Arusha after passing EAC mantle to Kenya’s Ruto

President Salva Kiir returned on Sunday from Arusha Tanzania the place he attended the twenty fourth Ordinary Summit of the East African Community (EAC) Heads of State and Government and handed the bloc’s management mantle to Kenya’s William Ruto.
The summit introduced collectively leaders of the member states to evaluate the achievements of the previous 25 years whereas charting the best way ahead for deeper integration on vital points shaping the way forward for East Africa.
DR Congo President Felix Tshisekedi skipped the summit with out official rationalization and Rwandan President Paul Kagame left shortly after the closed-door assembly of the heads of state.
Key agenda objects included strengthening the area’s financial resilience, advancing peace and safety, and selling initiatives that foster intra-regional commerce and growth.
President Kiir handed over the regional bloc’s chairmanship to Kenya’s William Samoei Ruto, who has been elected to guide the EAC till December 2025.
Foreign Minister Mohamed Abdallah Goc mentioned leaders from the area recommended President Kiir for his efforts to encourage leaders to embrace dialogue as a way to handle disputes, based on a press release from the Office of the President.
The summit emphasised the necessity to improve intra-regional commerce and growth whereas selling peace and safety within the area.
Heads of State issued a communique outlining suggestions for fast consultations on the EAC political confederation structure by thirtieth June, 2025, and directed the council to prioritize elimination of limitations to commerce, removing of restrictions on motion of individuals and companies to foster commerce integration amongst different pertinent points.
