Kariakoo constructing collapse case adjourned, investigation underway
DAR ES SALAAM: THE investigation into the collapse of the Kariakoo constructing, which tragically killed 31 folks and injured many others, remains to be ongoing, the courtroom was knowledgeable on Thursday.
State Attorney Roda Mwakamele stated throughout a listening to on the Kisutu Resident Magistrate’s Court that the investigation was nonetheless happening.
She requested an adjournment citing the continued investigation.
Senior Resident Magistrate Godfrey Mhina agreed and adjourned the case till January 13, 2025.
The accused embrace Leondela Mdete, 49, from Mbezi Beach; Zenabu Islam, 61, from Kariakoo; and Awadh Ashour, 38, from Ilala.
The trio had been first arraigned on November 29, 2024, and confronted 31 fees of manslaughter.

It is claimed within the cost sheet that on November 16, 2024, the accused collectively
failed to meet their obligations, resulting in the deaths of 31 people within the constructing collapse close to Mchikichi and Congo Streets in Kariakoo, Dar es Salaam.
While a few of the accused have been granted bail, others stay in custody, unable to satisfy the bail situations.
The case is being prosecuted by senior state attorneys Adolf Lema, Grace Mwanga, and Erick Kamala.
The fees fall beneath sections 195 and 198 of the Penal Code, Chapter 16, revised in 2022.
The multi-storey constructing collapsed on November 16, sparking a two-week rescue operation that resulted within the rescue of 86 survivors.
Tragically, 31 lives had been misplaced within the catastrophe.
